As our season comes to an end, we have even more soccer to be excited about. Our soccer day at the Boys and Girls Club is coming up and we are super pumped! For our soccer day we will be bringing new goals and balls to the club so that the kids have good equipment to play with. Our goal is to give the kids a taste of what our soccer practices look like, while also demonstrating how much fun it can be just to get out and play with your friends. We will run some drills at the start to get the kids warmed up, and then we will start playing small sided games. From what we have seen so far the kids should enjoy the day, as well as learn that it doesn’t take a lot of effort to get out and be active.
The staff at the Boys and Girls Club have been awesome helping us set up our activity, as well as accommodating our weird schedules. Between soccer and classes we don’t have a lot of time to go volunteer, so there have been long gaps between our appearances at the Club. We want to be there more, especially because the kids are always so excited to see us, but it can be hard to fit it in when we’ve been gone all weekend for soccer and have classwork to make up.
Hopefully now that the season is wrapping up we will have more time to be at the club. Other than that our project is going well, and we are having an experience far better than we ever imagined when starting this project.
